KISC reports and plans

  • 2007 KISC action plan identifies target invasive species and methods for their control.
  • 2006 Kauai fire ant survey report presents the results of an island-wide survey of Kauai for this biting pest. The little fire ant (Wasmannia auropunctata) was accidentally introduced to Kauai in 1999. The methodology and success of ongoing eradication and containment efforts against the little fire ant are reviewed.

KISC pest alerts and flyers

  • KISC pest alert flyers are available for download. Read, print, distribute, and spread the word to help KISC keep Kauai free of invasive plants and animals.
  • Got coqui? This flyer highlights the coqui eradication project at Lawai, Kauai. Learn how the Kauai coqui working group is removing this pest from the Aepo reservoir.

KISC's Weed of the Week (WOW)

The Weed of the Week Program is a joint effort of KISC and Kauai Community Radio to raise awareness about invasive species that may be cultivated for their ornamental value. Each Wednesday at noon a different weed is featured on KKCR.

Early detection program

KISC's early detection program is a proactive approach toward preventing new and destructive invasive species from establishing on Kauai. Roadside surveys and public input is used to stop incipient weeds before they become problems.
